A Great Opportunity to Develop Technically and Artistically, Discover Solutions, Master Techniques and Complete ProjectsEnjoy an intensive, hands-on, bring-your-own-computer seminar. This four day course allows flexibility and individual learning. Enjoy a live daily technique demonstration by Jeremy, in which Jeremy works on a real life project, showing how he takes it from beginning to completion. This is followed by seminar project time in which students work on projects of their choice. During the project time Jeremy comes round and helps everyone on an individual basis.
Jeremy's morning demonstrations will be themed loosely as follows (subject to adjustment according to the needs and interests of the students):
Who This Seminar is Suitable ForThis seminar is suitable for all levels, beginner to advanced. The seminar-style instruction is ideal for someone who is a highly motivated self-starter and who has a passion and vision of where they want to go and/or has very specific project needs they are wanting to resolve. You will be in a class with other students may be working on different projects and with different interests. Much of what is taught goes far beyond just how to use Painter. You will learn efficient workflow practices and how to apply artistic prinicples that make your images sing and light up. If you are looking for a more structured learning enviroment and wish to focus specifically on transforming photographs then one of the Painter Panache Intro Classes will be ideal. If you are an experienced Painter user and wish to deepen your mastery of Painter with a more structured class then one of the Painter Panache Master Classes will be ideal. In the Master Series Classes, students develop a deeper mastery and understanding of Painter's capabilities whilst expanding their artistry, developing their own style and finding their expressive voice. Limited Class SizeThe seminar is limited to eight students to ensure a high level of personal attention. Fee$895 Click here for the Registration Form. Recommended resources for this seminar are Jeremy's new DVD set, Painter IX Simplified for Photographers, (supplied with the Digital Innovator Volume 4 Natural Media Painting DVD) and his book, Painter IX Creativity: Digital Artist's Handbook. You can order these items at the time of registering for the class if you wish. It is recommended you work through the DVDs prior to class and bring the book with you to class so hyou can use the extra brushes from the Companion Resource CD that accompanies the book. Students are responsible for their own travel, lodgings and meals. What to Bring and PrepareBring your own computer, either Mac or Windows, laptop or desktop, equipped with Corel Painter IX (updated to latest version, currently 9.1) and a Wacom tablet (Jeremy recommends the Wacom Intuos3 6x8, 6 x 11 or Cintiq 21SX - use coupon code "jeremy" at CoolGraphicStuff for good prices). It is recommended that you have the latest Wacom driver which you can download from their web site. For optimum operation your computer should have the latest version of your computer operating system, either Mac OS X or Windows XP, as much RAM as you can afford and fit into your computer (at least 500 MB recommended), enough free hard drive space to save project files generated during the week (at least 12 GB free hard drive space recommended) and a CD/DVD writer for backing up your files. Please ensure you have installed all software and test run Painter and your tablet prior to class. Bring with you at least four images, projects, or project ideas, you are interested to work on. These projects could be transforming a photograph into a painting, or painting from scratch, or something more complex such as collage (note that there is a whole week "Collage!" workshop in November, 2006). Prepare photographic images in Photoshop, cropping them and adjusting levels and hue/sat as you see fit. Source images for paintings tend to work better when slightly more saturated and contrasty than you may have for a regular image. Save a flattened version of each image, with a meaningful name, as an RGB TIFF file in a folder for source images. Keep the images at the resolution they came out of your camera. You can always resize them later if needed. Please bring samples of your own work (digital and non-digital) and marketing materials to share with the class, examples of artistic styles you wish to emulate and inspiring books (make sure your name is clearly written in your books).

Online Training New Book! with Jeremy Sutton:
The interface has not changed significantly between Painter X and Painter 11 so you can easily apply the lessons from all my earlier materials when using Corel Painter 11. Likewise my PaintboxJ Painter 11 tutorials can all be easily applied in earlier versions of Painter. I do strongly recommend upgrading to Painter 11 if you currently have an earlier version. The newest Painter is the best yet. It is significantly faster than earlier versions and includes a whole new class of wonderful brushes (the Hard Media brushes).
For information on other Painter resources out there, please explore the Links page. |
